Cervical Positions

Checking your cervical position is another tool used when deciding where you are in your monthly cycle. When it rises within your body, the opening grows larger and softer to the touch. It’s a very good indicator or your most fertile time.

First Phase

Immediately after your menstrual cycle ends, you should begin charting and checking on your cervical position. This is the best time since at this point your cervix should be low and easily reached by your fingers. The opening should be closed, almost sealed tight and hard when touched. You are at your most infertile time right now.

Second Phase

As you continue to chart, your body is going through its cycle. Right before ovulation the amount of estrogen is increased greatly, causing your cervix to rise. Your cervical position is beginning to open and grows increasingly softer. This is a great time to start intercourse since your fertility rate has skyrocketed. The cervix remains high until you ovulate. Then the estrogen subsides and the progesterone is released and the entire process begins once again.
